Learn Value Investing from Graham

For me, it’s definitely The Intelligent Investor: The Definitive Book on Value Investing by Benjamin Graham.

Benjamin Graham is recognized as the father of value investing and was the mentor to Warren Buffett, who is a modern icon in investing. In his book, I learned how Graham establishes a framework for evaluating a business’s worth based on its financial value, rather than on short-term trading techniques. Graham introduced many vital investing concepts in his book, such as the “margin of safety,” which is now a key component in the Morningstar Rating for stocks.

The revised edition includes commentary by Jason Zweig, a personal-finance columnist for The Wall Street Journal, who provides context and modernizes the original text. With Zweig’s commentary on each chapter, the book exceeds 500 pages. It’s quite extensive, but it offers a thorough introduction to investing. And if you need to skim a few chapters to get through it, no judgment here.

  1. Graham’s value investing book is a great starting point for people who want to seek out great investments for their portfolios. While no book can truly guarantee consistent success, that book has great insight into what creates good investment opportunities. Mike
