Synopsis

It is the year 1330 in England, and the scene takes place on a sprawling estate in Devonshire. There, a young and naive woman named Joan de Conteigh is ready to wed Sir John de Chiddleigh, a man she has never met.

As Joan adjusts to her new position as Lady of the Manor, she comes to the realisation that Sir John is a ruthless and ambitious man. In order to combat her feelings of isolation and neglect, she starts up an unofficial connection with Annie, who works in the kitchen.
