Unheard – an inspirational book for all age groups.
Wordsworth once said, “Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings.” Poetry should be felt, although it may also be read or understood. Unheard is a poetic journey of a common neighborhood teenager, filled with emotions and feelings that sometimes remain unspoken and subsequently unheard.
The author writes her unfiltered and in-depth thoughts as she experiences different seasons of life and hopes to take you on a poetic journey of passion, determination, love, hate, belief, and faith. The introduction of the book conveys the message, “There is no such thing as talent, only hard work,” which is essential for facing the outer world.
There are poems like “Legends Never Die” and quotes like, “Every day you can start a new chapter of life and prove how much you deserve to be alive,” providing much-needed inspiration in today’s life. Sorrow is one of the basic sources of poetry. “Numb yourself to the pain… you will find the true light within you when you’re forced to live in the darkness.” Just like stars shine in the night, your inner warrior will rise when it’s time to fight, depicting feelings that come directly from the soul.
The poem “Restart” conveys a message to prefer innocence over intelligence, as real love is always innocent. The poetess says, “In this uncertain world with nothing true, just be glad to be certain about your love for you.” There is divinity expressed at its best: “Dear God, I am grateful for your presence,” and “In fact, to be closer to God, she was immensely excited and just very grateful for all the things He provided,” depicting the poet’s love for God and His gifts.
All in all, the poems in the book are well-crafted. Rhyme is visible, with a predominance of lyrical movements. You can feel the true essence of poetry while reading this book.

- Did you love reading books when you were little? Why or why not?: Yes, sports biography, poetry, and mythology keep my mind focused.
- At what age did you start reading books? What were your best memories of that time?: I started reading books at the age of 12. I wrote Unheard when I was 16. That was the time when I was playing badminton at the national level, which I continued for six consecutive years. The competitive spirit, fellowship, and struggles of being a player and overcoming them are some of my best memories.
- What was the first book you loved reading? Why?: The first work I read was The Perennial Psychology of the Bhagavad Gita by Swami Rama. I love this work because the Bhagavad Gita teaches us the essence of life and answers questions like, "Why am I here? What is the purpose of my life? And where will I go from here?"
- When did you first think about writing your first book? Why?: I started writing my first book, Unheard, at the age of 16. It was a time when I was at the peak of my badminton career, playing at the national level in India. I started having fractures in my right foot and had to give up my first love, badminton. During this emotional turmoil, I found solace in writing poetry. I wrote a piece in every situation I faced; they became my outlets. Slowly, the collection built up and eventually came out in the form of a book titled Unheard.
- What was the greatest obstacle you've encountered when you were writing your book? What made you overcome it?: It is sometimes very difficult to put your emotions into words. As a first-time author, it was also challenging to find a publisher; the best publishers refused to consider my work. It was sheer determination that drove me to publish and promote the book myself, and the result is for all to see—it has become an Amazon bestseller and is winning accolades from all walks of life.
- What pieces of advice can you give aspiring authors? What worked for you?: My advice to young authors is to embrace their passions wholeheartedly. Pursue academic and artistic interests alongside sports, as each endeavor contributes to personal growth and holistic development. Set clear goals, manage your time effectively, and cultivate a support network of mentors and peers who inspire and encourage you to excel in all aspects of life.
- Who are the authors or what are the books that had the greatest influence in your own writing? Why?: Vincent James, a poet from Seattle, USA, felt connected with his poetry.
- What are your current or future writing plans? What can readers further expect from you?: I am currently playing cricket at the national level and writing poetry. Maybe in a year or two, my next book will come out.
- Do you offer a free book copy to interested readers?: Yes. Interested readers, please use the contact form.
