It reminds me, in both tone and breadth, of David Crystal’s more practical works or even the pedagogical clarity found in The Elements of Style—but with a Spanish-English twist and a far broader scope.

Ultimately, Vademecum of English is not a book you read once. It’s a book that earns its place on your desk, your nightstand, your lectern. It is the kind of reference that grows with you—as a teacher, as a learner, and most of all, as a user of the English language. Like a good compass, it doesn’t give you the answers—it helps you find your own.
