You Are There by Felicity Wrangles is a children’s illustrated book that follows two friends, Elliot and Theodore, as they go through a life-altering event.

Review

Toddlerhood is the formative years of children. It is the time when we create the foundation for the rest of their lives. Introducing them to reading is crucial during this time. Books play an important role in shaping their lives. However, it is not easy to hold their attention. More often than not, a book needs to have an engaging yet simple story with eye-catching illustrations to ensnare a tiny tot. Felicity Wrangles’ You Are There is one such book.

You Are There by Felicity Wrangles is a children’s illustrated book with a powerful message of friendship, love, loss, hope, and acceptance.

The book revolves around Elliot and his best friend, Theodore. Everyone thinks that Theodore is a worm. Even Elliot thinks so. However, there is something special about him. Unlike other worms, he is a glowing shade of green and likes soaring in the sky. Elliot, who is a bird, is his constant companion. Every day, he carries Theodore on his back and the two spend time canoodling together. Their unlikely friendship is profound and unshakable. One day, everything changes. Elliot’s world turns upside down when he is unable to find Theodore.

What is so special about Theodore? Where did he go? Will Elliot be able to find him? Most importantly, will their unlikely friendship endure against all odds?

You Are There is a well-written children’s book. It is short and simple. The author uses easy-to-understand words that make the book ideal for little kids. The narrative style is also straightforward and clear. The illustrations in the book perfectly complement the story. They are vivid and help us to easily visualize the characters. The quirky illustrations indeed add a special something to Felicity Wrangles’ You Are There

Felicity Wrangles’ moving book has a beautiful message to boot. The author embeds a valuable life lesson in a seemingly uncomplicated short story. The story shows us that change is inevitable. We just need to keep up our hope and believe that whatever happens happens for the best. You Are There also depicts the importance of accepting our loved ones without any judgment. Even when they go through life-changing events, we should always be there for them. This book is a great means to help toddlers deal with the pain of losing a loved one. It teaches them that we should be accepting of others, even when they are different from us. Keeping up our hope in the face of adversity is of utmost importance. You Are There underlines this simple fact in an unadorned manner.

You Are There by Felicity Wrangles is a perfect read for little children. It not only immerses them in an engaging story but also teaches them a valuable lesson in friendship. The illustrations make the book all the more appealing. I highly recommend this book to toddlers. In an effortless manner, Felicity Wranglers imbibes a number of must-have life lessons in her readers through her short children’s illustrated book. I can’t wait to read more books by her.

Reading is my passion, and writing is my compulsion. I started reading from a very early age. Since then, I have not stopped. I have garnered this addiction from my father. I have always loved reading his books. As you can see, books are my world. I escape this world to traverse the world of my books. Naturally, I have an affinity to create worlds of my own. There are thoughts constantly swirling in my head. These are the thoughts that I jot down. Sometimes, they become poems while sometimes stories. More often than not, they are just reviews of the plethora of books I read and the things I do.

  1. I was a kid when I lost my father, so I understand the importance of books like this one. I know we want to shield our young ones from grief and suffering, but it’s better to give them tools to cope. And what better tool than books? And honestly, we could all benefit from learning to accept change.
