Synopsis
J.M. DeMatteis’s amazing supernatural story, The Excavator, which features outstanding drawings by Vassilis Gogtzilas, is a mind-bending journey into dread and salvation.
A strange boy is standing at the foot of Sandra Rosen’s bed as she awakens. She quickly realises that it is her son Henry. But she can’t recall ever meeting him. A mind-hacker has carefully and surgically mined her psyche, and he is now demanding a ransom to replace the valuable memories he has taken.
A journey that finds Sandra bound between two supernatural forces—the invader who contaminated her mind and the FBI psychic who insists he can save her—begins with this horrible experience. But in the end, Sandra is the one who holds the secret to both the Excavator’s and her own redemption.

What a terrifying plot! Stealing memories is just a whole new level of scary and criminal. I love the idea of having all these spooky books in October. It’s a different approach to what we usually imagine when we think about horror stories or the supernatural. So appropriate for spooky season!
