When a gigantic solar storm hits the earth in 2051, a worldwide EMP destroys almost all digital devices and power supplies. Life in the clean cities collapses. They sink into barbarism and chaos. • Did you love reading books when you were little? Why or why not?: I was and I am an avid reader.
• At what age did you start reading books? What were your best memories of that time?: As soon as I learned to read, I read all the books in the community library. When I was finished, I started all over again. I mainly spent rainy days with books when I couldn't play soccer outside or build tree huts in the forest. Then I found the adventures in the books. There I also found new, fantastic worlds and thoughts.
• What was the first book you loved reading? Why?: The first books that I read were the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, in which I could discover so many strange characters and fantastic worlds.
• When did you first think about writing your first book? Why?: As a high school student, I realized that writing was something I liked and enjoyed. So I wrote for the school newspaper, then for the local paper, and later as a student for a large national daily newspaper. Then I wrote short stories that were published in anthologies. Over time I developed the idea for “THE SUPERFLARE”, my first long novel. It was published in 2022.
• What was the greatest obstacle you've encountered when you were writing your book? What made you overcome it?: Well, The Superflare has more than 500 pages, and it was a great challenge to revise those pages over and over again until the editor and I felt that everything was now right and in the right place.
• What pieces of advice can you give aspiring authors? What worked for you?: I don't think it's my place to advise other authors. Everyone has their own style, their own way of working, and that's the way it has to be. For me, it was important to keep writing, not to give up even when things got difficult, and not to let things go too soon.
• Who are the authors or what are the books that had the greatest influence in your own writing? Why?: I have read far too many books to be able to highlight any single one here. They all had an influence on my writing. They all opened the door to the world of literature and writing.
• What are your current or future writing plans? What can readers further expect from you?: I am working on several projects at the moment, and some readers of the superflare have asked me if and when I will write a sequel. Perhaps I will do so when the time is right.
