• Did you love reading books when you were little? Why or why not?: Growing up home-schooled, I had a lot more time on my hands than many other children. This meant that I spent plenty of hours reading. Iv'e enjoyed reading since I was very young, and it was in fact Frances Hardinge's books that made my fall in love with literature and writing.
• At what age did you start reading books? What were your best memories of that time?: I started reading when I was around 4 years old, and I remember carrying around a large book of nursery rhymes to read with my grandmother. I will always remember the joy that reading gave me, as it meant I was able to drift into an entirely new reality, and create scenarios I otherwise wouldn't have thought of.
• What was the first book you loved reading? Why?: My first recollection of enjoying a series of books was when I read the 'Murder Most Unladylike series by Robin Stevens, as it opened an entirely new perspective for me.
• When did you first think about writing your first book? Why?: I have always wanted to write a story, as I consistently had ideas for them from a very young age. when I was 12, I wanted to write a book titled, 'Two Faced,' in which certain people had the ability to shift into mythical creatures. I thill think about writing that, but I first decided to write a book when I was in lockdown, in 2020, considering I had more than enough time to try.
• What was the greatest obstacle you've encountered when you were writing your book? What made you overcome it?: The biggest obstacle for me was writers block. I always have times of the process when I am more than ready to begin writing, and all I want to do it sit there and type until I have no more words to think of. However, there comes to be phases where I can't think of words, or sentences, or even small fragments of dialogue or plot to add to my story, and it is always when I begin to doubt whether or not I am cut out to be a writer. However, once I push through those moments of doubt, I always manage to get back on track on continue on my project once more.
• What pieces of advice can you give aspiring authors? What worked for you?: Keep writing! Even if there are times that slow down, or something doesn't feel right, if you have an idea that you want to share, don't stop trying. In my experience, if it feels like you're not enjoying it, you're probably writing the wrong thing.
• Who are the authors or what are the books that had the greatest influence in your own writing? Why?: Frances Hardinge will forever be my biggest inspiration. Her originality with her ideas, her complex story structure, and her talent when it comes to description are beyond anything I could hope to achieve. She was, and always will be, the reason I chose writing as a living.
• What are your current or future writing plans? What can readers further expect from you?: I wish to finish my series of 'Dead Man's Coin,' in which I hope to create 5 books. I also want to go on to write other forms of fiction, including more in the murder-mystery genre. I want to experiment with my writing, and create as many pieces of literature I can, and I want writing to be my full-time career.
