“The assumption of no God cannot be proven by science.”

– Frank “The Christian Noob” Olvera, Under the Thelian Sky: Beyond the Great Unknown

Just like the existence of God cannot be concretely proven, the absence of Him cannot be proven as well. Nevertheless, we cannot deny the presence of a higher power. Our belief in this power gives us hope and bolsters our confidence, especially in times of despair and desolation. It is no wonder that Christians are some of the most self-assured people in the world. Their faith gives them an understanding of the world that very few of us have.

Books with a Christian theme are unique in the manner that they give us hope. They show us that anything is possible as long as we have faith. Though Christians have a rich tradition of storytelling, historically, Puritan Christians did not have a very flattering view of fictional books. However, with time, their thoughts have changed. There is a large number of amazing Christian-themed novels out there today.

Let us look at some of the bestselling Christian books that you can read this year.

Book: Be a Giant Killer: Overcoming Your Everyday Goliaths

Author: Ed Norwood

Be a Giant Killer: Overcoming Your Everyday Goliaths, penned by Ed Norwood, is the winner of The BREW Book Excellence Award, 2023. This amazing nonfiction Christian book aims to help us build a healthy, happy, and closer-to-God life. The book gives us practical advice that is easy to apply to real life. Norwood likens the difficulties that we face in life to giants. These giants are similar to Goliath and the people of Canaan who were against the Israelites in the Bible. Today, the giants that we need to faceoff with in our daily lives are our addictions to smoking, drinking, drugs, idolatry, fast food, and other such malicious things. Our self-doubt, penchant for procrastination, and lack of faith are also the giants that prevent us from attaining self-actualization. Ed Norwood’s book is amazingly written. Though it is a non-fiction book, it engages us from the very first page. Norwood shows us what happens if we let evil and negative things pervade our lives. He emphasizes the fact that we all matter as we are created in the image of God himself. Norwood clearly points out that God has a plan for all of us. One of the best aspects of the book is that Norwood underlines the importance of living a morally upright and ethical book. Be a Giant Killer: Overcoming Your Everyday Goliaths is a must-read book that teaches us a number of valuable lessons.

Lois Young chronicles a very difficult part of her life in her memoir, Along Came Hell, or So I Thought. Young’s life was completely upended when she got to know that her husband of forty-four years, a respected church leader, was a child molester. He had been abusing their precious granddaughters as well. After his conviction, Lois understandably fell into a state of deep depression. She disconnected from all her emotions and felt lonely even in a crowd. Through this dark time in her life, her faith holds her strong. With the help of her family, church community, and most importantly, the Bible, she slowly starts the process of healing and getting back control of her life. Through her story, Lois Young shows us that it is much more important to have trust in God’s plan than to understand it. Conclusion

Christianity is one of the oldest living religions in the world. A major portion of the world’s population subscribes to the Christian faith. However, it has to be accepted that not many people like reading religious scriptures. To spread the Word of Christ to such people, the best way is the medium of storytelling. Books make the most difficult of messages easier to understand. It is no wonder that Christian-themed books are an emerging genre of books that is gaining popularity rapidly.

Reading is my passion, and writing is my compulsion. I started reading from a very early age. Since then, I have not stopped. I have garnered this addiction from my father. I have always loved reading his books. As you can see, books are my world. I escape this world to traverse the world of my books. Naturally, I have an affinity to create worlds of my own. There are thoughts constantly swirling in my head. These are the thoughts that I jot down. Sometimes, they become poems while sometimes stories. More often than not, they are just reviews of the plethora of books I read and the things I do.
