A Slight Miscalculation: A Half Moon House Short Story by Deb Marlowe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Worthe’s mother had always been more worried about ensuring he got a good marriage. Jane’s mum’s main issue had been her propensity to make choices that could turn off all the most eligible bachelors in town. But, when Worthe makes a slight miscalculation on his significant astronomical discovery, and Jane instantaneously picked it up and expressed her mind, would stars align to make a match?
Probably beyond mere luck or serendipity, this 19th century story had been reminiscent of my younger years’ romantic reads. Craftily woven by an award-winning writer who grew up with her “nose on romance books” like me, it’s no wonder that her manuscript turned out splendidly.
