“It was good to walk into a library again; it smelled like home.”

― Elizabeth Kostova, The Historian

Back in her university days, this girl worked as a student assistant in the library. Now, she has always been bookish – you know, the type who would rather spend her Friday nights curled up with a novel than out partying.

But there was something about the library that felt like coming home to her. The hushed whispers of pages turning, the musty scent of old books, the comforting embrace of knowledge waiting to be discovered – it was her sanctuary, her safe haven.

So when this girl stumbled upon Elizabeth Kostova’s quote, it hit her right in the feels. “It was good to walk into a library again; it smelled like home.” Those words captured exactly how she felt every time she stepped through those library doors.

And you know what? She wasn’t alone. For so many of us bookworms, libraries aren’t just buildings filled with books. They’re havens of comfort, havens of escape, havens of belonging.

There’s also another thing: That girl is me. Yes. This time, it is a true story.

So here’s to libraries, to the smell of old books, and to the feeling of coming home. May we always find solace, inspiration, and joy within their walls, just like that girl who was me did.

How about you? What do you think? Do you agree with this quote? I’m looking forward to knowing your thoughts.
