Poem:
Prophetic illusions dwell on my walls,
they growl and hiss and
call my name,
call me to shame,
when each one of them unravels,
around my bedroom walls,
telling me that I cannot escape,
cannot lie awake
and not act,
not scream, or cry or be alone for a second
when I know that there is a boy
alone, with his mum
in a house that is haunted, much like my own,
and so that is why I know that I must,
I need to, for my good and his,
write this poem, because if I didn’t…
that is the sin
that I could not forgive.
