Poem:
My hands held together by the palms,
The needles of the sun’s rays pierce my retinas,
My eyes held together by the thread of your existence,
The waves come crashing down
from the red bucket that the monk holds
Lying in the liquid lies of life,
From the fold of what is lost, her touch still trickles through time
To the eyes she gave you to see,
To her calloused hands and feet,
Her fingertips that took care of you
will forever be burned into sterling silver,
Attached to the rings on your wrist
To the white threads that sowed her soul to the sky and sire above,
The chants pleaded with the sire to bless the cushioned coffin she laid,
Though I ache to shed your shadow
Your mark clings to me like the rusting of that sterling silver
Like time, relentless and unyielding, thoughts of you are summoned
Your name hums in every silence,
The beating of your heart echoes through my chambers,
Your shadow wraps around my bones and clasps my skin,
My flesh is offered up for your existence,
Carved out to the shape your heart
I am left with nothing, but this battered broken body
An emptied pit echoing your name for eternity - Poet's Bio: I am Emily Heng, a Year 12 student studying at Endeavour College. I have always used creative outlets to express my own feelings and life experiences, particularly through poetry. This entry was written in relation to my own experience with grief and acceptance of death, particularly of someone I loved.
