Spooning

  • Listing ID: 36465
  • Poetry Author's Name: Mike Marks
  • Poem: Spooning advice from her sugar bowl,
Accidentally spilling a moment of truth,
She ponders her future. What is her role?
Stirred by caffeine, she abandons her youth,
Dropping it into dark roast plastic dust.
A child is a child is a child around the world
Until she isn’t; all that she can trust
Is not in her cup, her choices are furled.
Our daughter is the planet leader today
Parting cream from the bottom feeding burn,
Here for a blink of time to find her way
For the purpose of what intention? To learn
To live a long life or to accrue
Meaning that lasts a generation or two?
