Poet’s Statement:

I wanted to dedicate a poem to the night state of mind because that’s when my spirit is the most free, when I am 100% a poet.

  • Listing ID: 39602
  • Poetry Author's Name: Laima Gulbe Testa
  • Poem: That night, the Moon reflected You,
    or You reflected the Moon
    as your eyes produced lakes
    of parallel, eerie worlds.

    That night, You were imprinted on the Moon,
    or the Moon was imprinted on You—
    your face, blurred in the moonlight,
    or the Moon, blurry because of your face;

    That night, the Moon wanted to be You,
    and You wanted to be the Moon, yet you both
    could only join in the watery reflections,
    soon divorced by the prompt dawn.
  • Poet's Bio: Feeling that post-Soviet society did not ensure her enough freedom, L.G. Testa took an interest in the English language. Her work often explores themes of freedom and the complexities of human nature. For her, poetry is both a means of self-expression and a tool for navigating mental health. Her debut chapbook, "Regrowing Wings," was published by Bainbridge Island Press in August 2025.
