  • Poem: I've come to unfortunately know
    that dreams are the most dangerous thing
    and the desire for more
    leaves heaven perpetually only a single small step away
    so when I met the man who didn't
    nervously straighten my purposely crooked frame
    and instead started touching up the paint
    on everything that paled in comparison
    that he found surrounding my surreal landscape
    blissfully unaware of the unprecedented way
    in which he was preserving instead of pressuring me
    part-curator, part-gentleman
    he held open every door I walked through
    saying without subtext, "you can go anywhere"
    the endless possibilities threatened to pull me under
    with their addictive, riotous, roaring rip current
    and in a moment in which I became uncharacteristically sane
    I shredded the runaway script and decided to stay
