  • Listing ID: 36548
  • Poetry Author's Name: Lauren Copland
  • Poem: Putting pen to paper
On a floral piece of stationery
    A conversation commences
    Spanning thousands of kilometres
    Months in the making
    The mood is set
Over a steaming pot of tea
    As soft music spins out
    From my Nanna’s record player
    The birds dancing
    Outside my window
Bring a lightness to the room
    Though we’ve never met
    Words are our connector
    You know me better
    Than some I see
    It’s easy to confide
    When talking to a page
    Knowing at some stage
Other eyes will read the lines
    And take their time
    To pen the perfect answer
  • Poet's Bio: I started writing poetry during a challenging period in my life after joining a local women's poetry group. It helped bring me back to myself and rediscover my creativity. I find inspiration from the natural world, so I often spend my downtime outdoors.
