  • Listing ID: 37250
  • Poetry Author's Name: Alice Hlidkova
  • Poem: I stand before you, my wings bare.

    I kiss your death —
the holes in your heart you cut open,
the wounds in your mind you tried to sew shut.

The storm of you touches my lips,
the flames on my skin still burning.
I have only tears to offer,
and cakes with honey dressed at the edges.

    You want me to choose.
Wait — that is my mother’s voice.
You tell me to take my time,
but your deadline pulls me apart.

We dance on a chocolate road.
    Your skin smells of lavender,
    grey in the sun,
the floor beneath us painted red.

    I will wait for you.
    Below, as above.
    My sweet.
