A kindling

BREW Poetry Award Nominee - Open Category / by The Contributing Writer / 226 views

  • Listing ID: 36604
  • Poetry Author's Name: Nandini Sen Mehra
  • Poem: A bird with one wing still dreams about the sky,
a drop of dew of when it once was rain,
a silenced tongue of the time before the fear,
a splintered heart, a life before the pain

Of all desire that now has found a sheath,
of naked want that’s taught itself to wait,
and time and age now weight upon our feet,
and whisper soft, too late, it is too late

And still, and still a silent ember burns
a chance breeze may well ignite a flame,
and rouse the ones resigned to fitful sleep,
A return to wild, what once believed was tame.
