Our imagination is boundless. If it were up to us, most of us would be out on a quest to find adventure daily. However, life is not that simple. We are all bound by our responsibilities. It is impossible for most of us to leave everything and go in search of the adventure of our dreams. Books help us overcome this limitation. Through books, we transcend the boundaries of time, borders, and reality. They help us give wings to our imaginations and go on action-packed adventures that we can never think of experiencing in real life.
It is no wonder that for most of us, our first books were adventure novels. Even for those of us who have entered the hallowed halls of adulthood, action and adventure books have not lost their allure. Whenever we get time, we devour adventure stories, be it the timeless classics like Robinson Crusoe or newer novels like The Harry Potter. We, bibliophiles, are constantly on the lookout to find the best action and adventure novels.
In this list, I bring to you some of the latest award-winning action and adventure novels that you can immerse yourself into in this New Year.

Brothers by M. E. Taylor is the winner of the BREW Book Excellence Award 2023 Action and Adventure Category. The book is set in ancient Rome and Britain. It tells the story of Verluccus and Gaia. Verluccus is the slave of Gaius Marcius who falls in love with his master’s sister, Gaia. Verluccus is separated from his lady love when Gaius Marcuis takes him to Rome. On the way, Gaius is attacked and Verluccus goes missing. Back home, unbeknownst to Verluccus, Gaia becomes pregnant with his child. This puts her in jeopardy as she does not want her husband to harm her baby. The book narrates Verluccus’ quest to make something of himself, reunite with the love of his life, and find their child. M.E. Taylor’s Brothers is beautifully written and is highly recommended to fans of action, adventure, and romance.
Raptor’s Revenge by Jim Malloy
Jim Malloy’s Raptor’s Revenge is a thrilling historical fiction set in the Elizabethan times. Another winner of the BREW Book Excellence Award 2023 Action and Adventure Category, the novel tells the story of Jamey. The Irish boy was only fourteen years old when he returned home to find his whole family massacred. Vowing to avenge them, he takes to the sea and assumes the name El Raptor. He, along with his fearsome crew, terrorizes the Spanish on the high seas. When Jamey finds the family’s murderer in Spanish-occupied Jamaica, he lands there to take his revenge. Things become complicated when he falls for a beautiful local woman named Maria. Raptor’s Revenge is a historically backed action-packed novel that is bound to hold your attention from start to finish.
Accidental Diplomacy by Jeffrey Busch and Dominic Man-Kit Lam
Accidental Diplomacy, a finalist of the BREW Book Excellence Award 2023 Action and Adventure Category, is a gripping political thriller by Jeffrey Busch and Dominic Man-Kit Lam. The book starts off with a computer glitch prompting a US Navy Lieutenant to take down two Chinese aircraft with missiles. This accident threatens a war between the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China. If not stopped, this can very well escalate into World War III. Diplomats on both sides try their best to prevent this from happening. However, this is not easy with the two nation’s past history and Russia’s covert interference. As Busch is an American and Lam a Chinese, the book objectively portrays both sides of the coin. Accidental Diplomacy shows us how diplomats prevent war from staying behind the scenes.
When We Push Through Sound by Geoff Sease
It is difficult to believe that When We Push Through Sound is Geoff Sease’s debut novel. It is so well-written that it grips your attention from the very first word. The story, also a finalist of the BREW Book Excellence Award 2023 Action and Adventure Category, revolves around Tristan James. Tristan had everything in life, a loving wife, an accomplished daughter, and a successful career. However, it all shatters when his wife leaves him and his job presents him with difficulties. After losing everything, the once successful Tristan is shattered. He wants it all to stop. Music and the support of his loved ones come to his aid. It is up to him now to get his priorities set and turn his life around. When We Push Through Sound by Geoff Sease is a beautiful novel that is worth reading.
Chronicles of the Enchanted Vanguard: Seraphina and the Divine Mandate by Luminescence Goh
Chronicles of the Enchanted Vanguard: Seraphina and the Divine Mandate by Mr. Luminescence Goh follows Seraphina and her friends as they give their all to save the world from the clutches of evil. Seraphina, Lyra, and Finnegan, along with their friends, undergo various quests and defeat a host of otherworldly creatures to bring back normalcy to the world. Along the way, they learn lessons in love, acceptance, friendship, and humility. Goh’s book, the BREW Fiction Book Excellence Award 2023 New Book Category winner, is full of action and adventure. As a bonus, it also imparts a number of valuable life lessons.
Heir to the Ice Flame by Rose Harvey
Heir to the Ice Flame by Rose Harvey teleports us to the world of fantasy. The book follows Nina, the young princess of Scardia whose parents have been dethroned and massacred by the Usurper. On the run for over a decade, Nina has become habituated to hiding her identity and blending in the background. After seeing so many massacres, she is not even sure whether she wants to embrace her destiny as the heir to the Ice Flame. However, with her eighteenth birthday on the horizon, she has to make a decision. Rose Harvey’s Heir to the Ice Flame is full of magic, adventure, and action with a hefty dose of love and friendship. It is a must-read for all those who are fans of adventure and fantasy novels.
