Review
Man Mission: Four Men, Fifteen Years, One Epic Journey by Eytan Uliel is a fantastic, fast-paced, and full-of-laughs pseudo travel memoir that will take you to explore astounding places and cranky adventures that the Man Mission team undertook to take respite from their mundane pursuits and for seeking new experiences.
Comprising three parts, Man Mission: Four Men, Fifteen Years, One Epic Journey is the fascinating fictional personal story of four Australian men (Daniel, Sam, Alec, and the author) who went on a yearly expedition for fifteen years around the world, accompanied by several memorable events that also somehow shaped their lives. At times, they got into the most perilous situations, like dealing with drug dealers in a far-flung jungle of New Zealand, facing wild creatures in South Africa, staying in luxurious resorts, and many other wonderful tasks. On their series of missions, they took part in multiple challenging tasks like hiking, biking, trekking, climbing, camping in dangerous places, and kayaking in wild seas and rivers. During the course of their travel, they visited New Zealand, Fiji, the USA, Iceland, Japan, Vietnam, and many other countries. Each place had its own beauty and the author superbly captured the pros and cons of their fun–ridden trips.
Eytan’s style is interesting, genuine, and easy to follow. He so vividly captured personal experiences and surroundings that you cannot help but get engrossed in the details of the book. The narrative alternates between travel stories and personal tales. On one side, you get acquainted with life struggles dealing with family and career; on the other side, it brings you to discover wonderful trips that tested stamina and manliness and also served to strengthen friendships.
In addition, the book is a good source to learn about new people, cultures, and some fantastic places which you can visit just by sitting in your home. Each chapter (includes a new mission) starts with an inspiring quote and ends up summarizing the vital statistics of that mission, and this addition was quite helpful for me to get a quick view of the particular visit. Moreover, including a map of each country where they plan to visit gives a good idea to the readers about that place. The book includes both happy and gloomy phases, the upheavals they faced during their life, and some harsh realities that taught them much more than the “Man Mission” charter. Besides, the narrative is quite engaging, and a reader can feel each and every moment with the “Man Mission” team.
By and large, the book is thrilling and funny and centers on the themes of joy, fear, loss, hope, adventure, and friendship. It stands apart from other travel books owing to its compelling account of travel and guileless description of all that has significance in the author’s life. I enjoyed this book a lot. If you love traveling and have not gone anywhere for a long time, reading this fabulous piece of writing may boost your spirit to go on a new adventure. I recommend it to fans of travel stories who love to see exotic places and have unique experiences.

Traveling and learning about different cultures is one of the most enriching experiences, in my opinion. I, of course, can’t travel the world right now, but I love that books like this one allow us to do it. Great review!
